Let's get the party started

We've packaged the VU experience to help make it easy and accessible for high school's to make a truly memorable moment for their students.

Start planning

Creating memories together!

1. Plan

We believe the work we do is best celebrated with others. Which is why we've worked hard to provide information and resources to help plan your experience.

2. Record

Part of what make the VU experience special, is documenting the process. This may feel daunting, but we've made the process less intimidating, with helpful steps for setting up.

3. Publish

Publishing what you capture helps celebrates the students who have worked hard to earn scholarships. This also helps to share the value you're providing to your students.

Learn How

Make a plan

Step 1

Pick a date

Step 2

Reserve a space at your school

In our experience, a gymnasium or auditorium is perfect.

Step 3

Invite volunteers

Invite 3-5 volunteers (teachers, counselors, administrators) to help you hand out letters. Here's an example of a good invite.

Step 4

Invite guests

Inviting guests (administrators, funders, local leaders, etc.) helps make the experience a memorable one for everyone involved. We think the more the merrier!

Step 5

Invite colleges?

Do you want colleges present for your event? If yes, here's how.

Step 6

Invite public relations

You can make a splash and shine a spotlight on your school/district with local media coverage at your event. If it's helpful, you can use our PR template. Here's a good example of event media coverage.

Record the event

Step 1

Invite someone to record

The first place to look could be your school's communications team or someone from the media department. If you don't have an in-house solution, no problem, just use your phone! Sometime the easiest solution is the best, so don't overthink it.

Step 2

What to record

Interview a few students (examples)
Interview administrators (examples)
Interview board Members (examples)
Interview counselors (examples)
Event pictures (examples)
Event video (examples)
Total amount awarded (examples)

Step 3

Put it all together

Make a reel to share of all the content you've collected. If you need a hand, we're here to help.

Publish it!

Step 1

Share the recorded content

You can share with younger students or parents as a motivator during back to school night or other events. You can also share on social media, here's and example.

Not a lot of content?

There a still a few ways you can celebrate the aggregate scholarship amount with your community. Share a picture of the amount banner (example), or share a picture of the projector showing the amount (example), OR just the amount (example).

Step 2

Post celebration stories

Share how your school’s effort is transforming a student’s life through student interviews and blog articles. Here's an example of a good blog post for an event.
